Overview
NEU Battery Materials aims to be the largest, cleanest, and most neutral source of recycled lithium globally. The firm developed the world’s first patented electrochemical redox recycling method that only uses electricity and water. This revolutionary approach is paving the way for a more sustainable future in LFP battery recycling.
We are expanding our current scale of operations and are seeking an experienced chemical engineer. This new teammate will play a crucial role in the battery recycling process through development and scale-up to commercialization. Working closely with the R&D team, this hire will lead the design, planning, and implementation of layouts for our cutting-edge recycling equipment to accelerate the advancement of pilots and concepts to scalable, refined commercial products.

Responsibilities
- Work with process and mechanical engineers to drive the scaling and commissioning of the recycling plant for seamless transitions from pilot to full-scale commercial operations.
- Conduct pilot-scale experiments to optimize and validate chemical process enhancements before full-scale implementation.
- Perform material and energy balance calculations to ensure optimal resource utilization.
- Analyze and improve reaction kinetics, separation processes, and material recovery to maximize lithium and other critical metal extraction.
- Monitor process parameters and troubleshoot issues to maintain consistent chemical performance and output quality.
- Develop new methodologies for impurity removal and purification to improve material recovery efficiency.
- Develop and implement safety protocols for handling chemicals, electrolytes, and reaction byproducts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
- 3+ years experience in chemical process development, reaction engineering, or materials processing, preferably with experience in electrochemical processes.
- Hands-on experience in a factory floor environment is highly preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for process troubleshooting and optimization.
- Effective team player with good communication and presentation skills.
- Possess good analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication in English.
- Good to have knowledge in any of these areas; flow battery, redox flow processes, electrochemical processes, fuel cell.
